Representational Landscape Series
I paint all landscapes for the pure joy of interpreting inspirational places. I want to share the essence of what I see in this environment and attempt to capture a single moment in nature. I feel an overwhelming sense of appreciation for the complex beauty of nature.
When I decide I am moved by a particular landscape, I have an image of the completed painting in my mind’s eye
which acts as a focus for the interpretation I want to show. I strive to capture colors, shapes and the essential emotions
I have when viewing this landscape. I try to let the emotions guide my paintbrush.
I like to paint landscapes when they are the most dramatic-early morning or late evening-
when shadows and colors are at their peak.
I do not try to paint what I see; but rather interpret the feelings the landscape evokes in me. |
